With the huge demand for inner-city affordable studio accommodation, and along with a substantial private equity partner, we set up an inner city development business UrbanOn and embarked on our first project : the conversion of an old dilapidated 5 level office block in Castle Street.
The property is central and very well located at 53 Castle Street, near to the vibrant nightlife of Long Street, hotels, transport nodes and main arterials out of the CBD. The property had great potential, with existing floor-plates which were perfect for small studio-apartment conversion.
The result is 19 “New York”, luxury loft-style studio residential units of approximately 25 m2, each with their own kitchenette. A new rooftop deck bar/terrace was constructed, with spectacular views of Signal Hill and Lions Head and a 120 m2 ground floor restaurant and hotel reception area.
InnsCape on Castle ( IoC) Hotel signed a lease on the property and have since boasted good occupancies and positive guest feedback due to the large, modern, comfortable rooms and central location.
